A "dab" is a small amount of cannabis oil on the tip of a dab tool (metal or glass stick). Smoking this cannabis product is a bit different than packing your bong. There are a few ways to smoke a cannabis concentrate, but right now we are going to discuss how you can take a dab. You will need 5 things; a banger dish, a water bong, a dab tool, a carb cap, and a torch.
1. A glass or quartz banger, typically called a “banger dish" is place on your bong and heated up with a torch. This dish acts as a bowl for your concentrates to be melted down in. It is important to get the correct size to fit your water bong. It goes in place of your bowl. BUT REMEMBER you have to torch this glass banger, it is HOT. You can not pull it off your bong like you flower bowl. You will burn your fingers!
2. If you do not have a water pipe or bong, you will need to get one. Feel free to get a little one or a big one! The main difference is the amount of smoke you will get. Bigger bongs will create bigger bubbles and give you more smoke. Smaller water pipes will create smaller and fewer bubbles, giving you less smoke. You will need a water pipe becasue you have to use your banger dish and banger dishes only connect to 10, 14, or 18 millimeter water pipes.
3. A dab tool is a metal or glass stick. Since the cannabis concentrate you will be smoking is very sticky, handling it with your bare hands will not be ideal. You also have to place the concentrate in a pipping hot banger dish. Use a dab tool (a metal or glass stick) to pick up your oil. Dab tools come in many shapes, sizes and styles. No matter what one you get, you will be happy it is a part of your technique.
4. Along with your dab tool, using a carb cap will also be helpful. When smoking flower you usually put your hand on the carb hole of a pipe, or you take the bowl out of the bong to get more air flow when you're just about done inhaling. So, when smoking oil you need to create that extra air flow some how. A carb cap will do just that. You cap the top of your banger dish and it contains the vapor inside, so you can inhale all of the smoke. Once you need more air, you take the carb cap off.
5: You will need a Torch to make your banger dish hot enough to melt the oil down. Most dabs are taken around 450 to 600 degrees fahrenheit. If you do not have a thermometer temperature gun, a good rule of thumb to follow is heat the banger dish for 1 full minute and let cool for 30 seconds.
Once you complete this list of items, you are ready to dab! There are many youtube videos that you can watch if you need further assistance! You can always give our office a call or text and we can walk you through it.
Dabbing is a very potent experience, it could be 4 times stronger than regular dried cannabis flower you would be using. Typical level of THC in a concentrate are between 70-90% and in dried cannabis the THC level are between 15-30%. While it will give you a more euphoric experience, it can also taste even better and last a little longer. Many concentrate consumers continually use cannabis concentrates because their tolerance has increased and this is the product that works best for them. Remember..you can always smoke more but you can not smoke less! Have a great experience and enjoy your dabbing!
